Acid etching is a surface preparation process where light-gauge metal is run through an acid solution that chemically roughens the surface. This increases the surface area and creates a texture that improves how well adhesives, coatings, laminates and other materials bond to the metal in later processing steps.
Acid Etching

Acid Etching for Improved Bonding & Adhesion
All Foils offers acid etching as part of our surface preparation capabilities, giving manufacturers a metal surface that’s ready to perform in the next step of their process—whether that’s coating, laminating, adhesive application or another bonding process. Acid etching is available for metal gauges from .005″ and up, in widths up to 48″, with lighter gauges limited to narrower widths.
Acid-etched material is produced to your specifications and supplied in coil, roll or sheet form, so it moves directly into your next process step without additional prep work on your end. Contact our team to discuss lead times and how acid etching fits into your existing process.
